We are proud to have renewed our Healthy Schools award status and incorporate the ‘daily mile’ into our routine each day for Year 1 – Year 6.
School meals are provided in school at a cost of £2.30 per day.
Lunchtimes:
To help with the smooth running of lunchtimes there are a few points to remember and expectations we have of the children.
From starting full time education children are able to have a meal in school. All systems require some independence on the child’s part, for example carrying a tray, choosing their food, using cutlery correctly. We have supportive staff who will help and guide where necessary and when needed, and we expect the children to listen carefully to their instructions and guidance. We have a cafeteria service with a choice of menu – hot main courses / salad bar and 2 sweets are available during lunchtimes and the opportunity to have “a taster” is given. Upper Foundation Stage start lunch first, then other classes follows on a rota going into the dining halls. Parents should let the school know of any dietary requirements.
We are part of the National Fruit Scheme which provides free fruit daily for Nursery to Year 2. As we are aware of the importance of maintaining hydration levels we encourage children to have a daily bottle of plain water. During the summer months parents have found it useful to cool/freeze the water to ensure a cool drink throughout the day. Bottles should be named and stored in the classrooms. We provide milk free of charge to reception and nursery.
